On September 5 Slate Asset Management (“Slate”) announced details of A Healthier Hamilton, a long-term charitable giving program on behalf of Steelport, Slate’s 800-acre industrial development along the Hamilton waterfront. The program aims to contribute to improving Hamiltonians’ quality of life by partnering with local community organizations and reflects Slate’s long-term commitment to and investment in the City of Hamilton.

A Healthier Hamilton is a vital part of Slate’s vision of a flourishing community that is healthy, vibrant, and accessible to all. The program will prioritize support for organizations that contribute to the community across three pillars: health, environment, and economic development. Slate has committed an initial $120,000 in funding for 2024 to an inaugural group of partner organizations, with additional commitments anticipated throughout the duration of the Steelport development project.

The first organization to receive a portion of Slate’s $120,000 in funding is the Hamilton Sports Group, the organization that owns and operates the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League and Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League. Slate will sponsor the Hamilton Sports Group’s Hearts in the Huddle, an initiative that will connect athletes from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC with McMaster Children’s Hospital and its outpatient programs at Chedoke.
