Construction Act

The Construction Act modernized the construction lien and holdback rules, helps make sure that workers and businesses get paid on time for their work and helps make sure payment disputes are addressed quickly.  The amendments to the construction lien and holdback rules came into effect on July 1, 2018.  New prompt payment and adjudication processes, and amendments related to liens against municipalities, came into effect on October 1, 2019.  Statutory transition rules clarify how the new rules apply to existing contracts and sub-contracts.

Ontario Dispute Adjudication for Construction Contracts (ODACC)

The ODACC is the Authorized Nominating Authority (ANA) under the Construction Act. As the ANA, ODACC is responsible for administering construction-related adjudications and for training and qualifying Adjudicators.

The AODA is an Ontario law mandating that organizations must follow standards to become more accessible to people with disabilities.
