Prime Minister Carney and Premier Ford launch new action plan to protect workers from tariffs and strengthen Ontario industries
Prime Minister Carney and Premier Ford have announced a new $8.7 billion action plan to help protect workers and businesses from U.S. tariffs while strengthening Ontario’s economy. The plan includes significant investments in the steel and automotive sectors, support for Canadian-made procurement, measures to address unfair trade practices, and funding to accelerate critical mineral development in Northern Ontario’s Ring of Fire region. Together, these initiatives aim to enhance supply chains, support good-paying jobs, increase investment, and position Ontario for long-term economic growth.
