95th Annual General Meeting

The HHCA will be hosting our 95th Annual General Meeting & Dinner on Thursday, February 19th at Carmen's Banquet Hall. The HHCA will be honouring our two Hall of Fame inductees, Walter Koppelaar of Walters Inc and James W. Barclay of The Barclay Construction Group. The HHCA will also be celebrating our Young Leader Award with Kevin Voorberg of Schreiber Brothers as our 2015 Young Leader Award recipient.

During the evening, the HHCA will also be honouring HHCA contractors with the Safety Awards. The Safety Awards will recognize firms for excellent injury/frequency scores. Would you like to apply for a Safety Award? These awards are open to all HHCA Contractor members. To apply, click here.

Construction Forecast 2015

The HHCA's Construction Forecast will return on Tuesday, January 27th, 2015. Members of the HHCA will gather to discuss upcoming construction opportunities in Hamilton and the surrounding areas. We will hear from Mark Casaletto of Reed Construction Data and the CIty of Hamilton to see what 2015 will have in store for us locally and nationally. More speakers to be announced!

New WAH Training Requirements Announced

The Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) has announced changes to Working at Heights (WAH) Regulation 297/13: Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training that will come into effect on April 1, 2015. As of that date, workers on construction sites will need to complete at Working at Heights training program that has been approved by the Chief Prevention Officer before they can work at heights. This training will be valid for three years from the date of completion. Construction workers who work at heights and who are trained to the current requirements will have until April 1, 2017 to take a program that's approved under the new standard and delivered by a provider organization that is approved under the new standard.

Building Sciences Meet the Grad Night at Mohawk College

Mohawk College will be hosting their Building Sciences Meet the Grad Night on Tuesday, February 3 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Arnie at Mohawk College's Fennell Campus. Meet the Grad Night is always a huge success from previous years. By attending as an Employer you will receive a table where you can meet and possibly recruit both Coop Students and soon-to-be Graduates. Some of Mohawk's technology classes will be graduating in May 2015 and there will be many Co-op opportunities.
